This is where new life begins!
Who is Jesus?
God sent His only Son, Jesus to the earth to bring hope and salvation to imperfect people (you and me) who could never save themselves. His teaching and miracles brought thousands to hear and accept God’s message, beginning a revolution that would break down the walls of religion and create space for us to have a relationship with God.
Jesus spent much of his time traveling Israel and teaching about the kingdom of God which eventually led to His arrest and crucifixion. On the third day after his crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, as He had promised, and left his followers with the commission to spread His message of hope and salvation– the Gospel– all throughout the world.
We have all made bad decisions at some point in our lives because no one is perfect. In fact, the first people God ever created weren’t perfect either. They made a mistake, just like we all do, and chose their own desires over God’s desires. In that moment, sin entered the world, and now we face sin everyday. When we make mistakes, it creates distance between us and God, and sin fills that gap.
God knew we could never overcome sin and bridge the gap between ourselves and God. No one could ever be good enough to do that…except Jesus. Jesus came to the earth, spread God’s message of hope and salvation and was crucified to pay the price for our sin and give us freedom. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection not only proved that He was indeed the Son of God, but also represented the new life, free from sin, we get to experience in Him.
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” ~ John 5:24 NIV
What’s my part?
No matter who you are, where you’ve been or what you’ve done, God wants to offer you new life. Jesus didn’t come to condemn you, He came to save you (John 3:17)! Because He gave his life for us, believing in Jesus is the only way to experience true forgiveness and salvation from our sin (John 14:6).
The Bible is clear about how we can be saved. Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” We all must have a moment where we declare that Jesus is Lord. This is a moment you will never forget because it is the moment where you enter into a relationship with Jesus and cross over from death to life (John 5:24).
